Our cattery is located in beautiful, sunny Mulberry, Florida. We’ve been showing and breeding cats for years and recently added the awesome Maine Coon breed to our cattery. We have acquired some of the most outstanding cats from all over the world in an effort to preserve the best traits in this magnificent breed. With this endeavor in mind, we do not consider ourselves to be just breeders; we are breed preservationist. Anyone can put cats together to produce kittens, but knowing how to pair the right cats together to produce kittens that best represent the breed standards only comes from experience and dedication.
Our cattery is both TICA and CFA registered and we actively show our cats with both associations. We have excellent references and a solid reputation in the breeder and show communities.
We strictly follow the guidelines set forth in the TICA code of ethics and our cattery meets USDA standards for catteries.
Here at Etlon, we take caring for our cats very seriously and keeping them healthy and happy is our top priority. We do not cut corners and only the best will do for our precious felines. All breeders are genetically tested and screened for HCM, Pk-def and SMA. In addition to genetic screening for HCM, we regularly have our cats screened via echocardiogram by a board certified veterinary cardiologist. Etlon breeding cats are also screened for hip dysplasia.
We do not sell “cheap” kittens, give discounts or have sales. We put a lot of time, effort and money into our cats. They are raised in our home, are very well cared for and are well socialized. We believe in quality over quantity and carefully plan our litters so that we may provide kittens with the time and socialization they need. It‘s true that you get what you pay for. Yes, there are other catteries out there that will sell you a cat for a much cheaper price, but you won’t save any money if you bring home a sick kitten and spend hundreds of dollars getting them well.
Maine Coons are seriously laid back cats. If you’re looking for a lap kitty or a sofa snuggler, then this is the breed for you. They tend to be docile and loving cats that enjoy being with people. Their soft chirps and playful natures make them the perfect house kitty. They get along well with other pets as well as children.
Maine Coons tend to be high maintenance cats. They have a thick uneven coat and shed a lot. They require frequent brushing to avoid matted and tangled hair and sometimes they need to be bathed to reduce some of the oil in their coat. Grooming is an important part of Maine Coon ownership. Long haired cats that are not properly maintained can develop skin infections, along with sores and large painful mats. Professional groomers are an option for owners that do not feel that they can properly care for their cat’s coat. This should be taken into serious consideration when you decide to add a Maine Coon to your family.
